Howdy!
I’m a content marketer and strategist with more than a decade of experience. I’m passionate about the written word, hard-wired for strategic thinking, and known to extract insight from website data that would make most normal people go cross-eyed. In other words, I’m what some people would call a nerd. I’m hoping you, however, will call me “your next hire.”
My mission is to work with good people who are doing cool things. So far, I’ve been fortunate enough to do exactly that for brands small and large, as an in-house content strategist, agency copywriter, and freelance consultant. I’ve worked on campaigns that won awards and I’ve done work that’s received zero accolades. Except from my employers, who love watching graphs move up and to the right.
I specialize in bridging the gap between creating content people love and that algorithms reward. If you play your cards right, I’ve found these objectives aren’t always far apart. I don’t consider SEO (or GEO, AEO, LMFAO, or whatever new acronym is trending right now) to be a dirty phrase, but I don’t slavishly worship robots either. From strategy, to execution, to measurement and reporting, my track record speaks for itself.
I consider myself AI curious, but I can tell you this: ChatGPT would never write this bio. I believe in using AI for tasks that are mundane or otherwise impossible. Not replacing the craft that makes you feel fully human. Other brands can be average. I’d rather make yours stand out.
In my free time, I’m also a freelance writer who covers rock music and video games. Currently, I write a (mostly) monthly column for Unwinnable.com, an award-winning pop culture digital magazine and website. I received the 2016 Kunkel Award for Excellence in Feature Writing from the Society of Professional Journalists, which I didn’t know I won until someone told me years later. Look, I write for the love of the game, not to line my wall with pieces of paper.
When I’m not working or writing, I’m usually spending quality time with my wife Rachel and our son Silas. I also enjoy playing guitar, talking about guitar pedals, and making wishlists of guitar pedals I want to buy.
Got a project you want to collaborate on? Down to grab coffee and talk shop? Have opinions about American football (either the sport or the band) and want to yell about it? Hit me up and let’s make it happen.
